BLACK WELLNESS MATTERS: The Origins of Disease Prevalence in the African American Community
The Origins of Disease Prevalence in the African American Community Environmental conditioning and how human beings co-exist with its environment is a significant contributing factor to one’s health and wellness. The morbidity and mortality rates for the African American Community in comparison to their white counterparts are disproportionately higher in a multitude of diseases. This presentation will use a historical lens to examine how living in an environment of sustained trauma and dehumanization has created a transgenerational cellular impact on the rampant negative health outcomes within this minority population. We will also explore spiritual wellness practices that have allowed this community to be resilient in spite of harmful environmental conditioning.

You Are the Prayer You Pray
Begging, pleading, and deal making have been used as various approaches toward conducting prayer and attempting to have a deeper and a more intimate relationship with God. In contrast, Mark 11:24 states: “whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours.” Therefore, to manifest your deepest desires you must adopt thought and behavior patterns that are in alignment with your prayers. In other words, you must become the prayer that you pray. Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver and Mary McLeod Bethune are a small sampling of African American Historical figures who laid a Spiritual Blueprint for others to follow. It is evident through their significant contributions to American History and Culture they were not only praying people, but were the manifestation of the prayers they prayed. Prayer is definite spiritual thinking. The only entity that has to be convinced of your prayer is you. Isaiah 65: 24 states: “before they call I will answer.” The human mind must be consciously aligned with the Spirit to live optimally. In other words, your mind is your connecting link to God. Thus, the thoughts you think are prayers. Proverbs 23:7 says: "As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.” You are the only person that thinks in your mind. What you think and how you think will either free you or it will hang you. Hence, the most vital relationship you must develop is with your own Spirit. This is the season and the time to respect and love yourself as a manifestation of God.

Cancel Culture, Locking People In
Our world is calling for a critical mass of spiritually minded folks, rooted in divine truth, who are committed to transforming the people and systems that fail to recognize all life as being sacred. In this current climate of cancel culture, it’s imperative that our actions be grounded in principles that call people in instead of locking people out. Sacred Activism invites all of humanity into a transformative process that restores the individual to his/her/their highest self, heals the wounds of division, and recreates a world where all are valued and feel a sense of belonging. As Light workers, we are not content with the mere attainment of spiritual knowledge for the benefit of the intellect only. Guided by the wisdom of Spirit, we create actionable movements that move us from theory to practice, in a world desperately in need of truth, love, and compassion.
In our time together, we’ll create a communal space that will inspire us to recognize the sacred in each other; share principles of sacred embodiment that will embolden and empower our work; and develop self-care practices that sustain our presence in the world.

Healthy Relationships- Being Awake, Aware and Authentic:
The Quality of Our Relationships Affects Health
Our social environment and involvement in community has been directly correlated to health outcomes and quality of life. The quality of our relationships matters and are defined by our thoughts and beliefs. Relationship discord has been scientifically linked to heart disease, inflammation, decreased immunity, depression, and chronic disease. What is the quality of your relationships? Does your heart yearn for a romantic partner, new friendships, or a deeper relationship in spiritual community? Do you desire to attract the perfect doctor, business partner, professional colleagues, or an optimal work environment? Is there a relationship in your life that may be contributing to bodily discord or dis-ease? If you have answered yes, this workshop is for you!
Participants will be guided through a 90-minute journey aimed to identify limited beliefs and spiritual truths at the foundation of one’s experience in relationships. This class will reveal where the work in gratitude, conscious change, and intentional choice making is needed to optimize health as we relate with others. Together we will experience how science and spiritual practice walk hand in hand.
Using a collective consciousness, self-awareness, self-advocacy tools, intention setting anaffirmative prayer-each participant will correlate their current state of health: mind, body, and spirit to one’s relationships.

That is the question that this interactive session will explore. It will include research, statistics and real-life applications, as well as opportunities for group work, case study analysis, brainstorming and action planning.

Circles of Support, Circles of Change
To advance racial equity, there is work for white people and people of color to do separately and together. Affinity groups provide spaces for people to work within their own racial/ethnic groups. One of the most important ways to challenge our racial socialization has been to build relationships across race. These groups provide time and space to work explicitly and intentionally on understanding systems of oppression and to increase one’s critical analysis around these concepts in order to build relationships based on trust and to effect change.
We will learn what it means to stay together, through the fire of trigger and when the impulse towards separation surfaces. This will be a learning space where we lean into building culture through engaging embodied practices. Affinity work can prepare us to engage in more effective antiracist activism and coalition building. And for those of us who are deeply involved in ongoing antiracism work. Affinity groups keep us inspired and refreshed, and they are a humbling reminder that our work is not finished. Many of us who lead antiracist education and organizing see affinity groups as an invaluable tool for consciousness raising, healing, and ongoing skill-building. They are one tool among many others, yet one of the most powerful and with lasting impact.
